I commonly get to learn many families' routines as I work with children with challenging behaviors at school. What struck me most this week, was realizing that one common denominator was children’s mealtime habits at home have a tremendous impact on their ability to sit down at school during tabletop activities, lunch at school, and socialization skills. Children with “troubled” mealtime routines at home will also exhibit sitting challenges at school during mealtimes and even challenges completing classwork that requires attention and sitting down appropriately.
